School coming to an end

As the year draws to a close I must say it has been an adventure!!! Miss Mellyn and I have had a blast teaching your little ones!!! 
Thank you so much for all the wonderful treats, flowers and cards we received for teacher appreciation week!! The best gift of all are the hugs we get each day!!

Reminders:

•We will be having an end of year performance the last week of school., 
Tuesday the 24th at 6 pm

•As the weather get warmer PLEASE bring a water bottle labels with your child's name to keep in the classroom!!

May already!!

Already MAY!!!!

I am so sorry it has been so long since I last posted on our blog. April seemed to fly by so fast!!! I can't believe the school year is almost over. We plan on having lots of fun reviewing everything we have learned this year!!
I want to say a big thank you to Miss Mellyn and all the kids for the special get well cards that they made for me last week!! It sure touches my heart to know I was missed as much as I missed my kids!!
I'm looking forward to and awesome last few weeks!!
I hope you all stayed safe threw this wind storm... It will be fun to hear the story's the kids will share Monday morning!!

March 21st - 25th

Claude Monet
Monet is by far one of my favorite artists! We will learn about his use of light and color and do our best to make our own water lily picture... 

  • Phonics/Phonograms - Th, sh, ch, ee, oo & ow. Vowels and vowel sounds, beginning and ending word sounds
  •  Numbers- Counting to 50
  •  Shape-  Egg shape!!
  •  Writing skills- writing on our paper lines.Capitol and lowercase.
  •  Math- hands on counting and sorting. 
  • Science- exploring colors with baking soda and vinegar 
  • Themebutterflies and their life cycle, EASTER and SPRING🌷
  • Bible- "It is true the Lord has risen" Luke 24:34.                                 The Lord has risen!! Everyday with the kids I say 'The Lord has risen!!' Slowly they are learning to say in return 'He has risen indeed hallelujah!!!!' Teaching about Easter brings me so much joy! I love talking about forgiveness and unconditional love!!

  • I would like to have an Easter party the Friday before Easter. We would LOVE to color eggs. Please let me know if you are willing to bring in a dozen boiled eggs or supply's for coloring them(vinegar, food coloring or even cups to color in) Thanks in advance!!

She is an amazing artist that was paralyzed when she was younger and instead of giving up she painted. 
So after learning about her we tried painting the same way! 
This, I must say was a lot of fun to watch!!

  • Phonics/Phonograms - Th, sh, ch, ee, oo & ow. Vowels and vowel sounds, beginning and ending word sounds
  •  Numbers- Teen number review,  1-30
  •  Shape-  cylinder
  •  Writing skills- writing on our paper lines. No floating letters and using Capitol and lowercase letters. 
  •  Math- hands on counting (10 beads in a number 10 cup)
  • Science- water cycle 
  • Theme- Weather, how fast spring weather changes! 
  • Bible- "It is true the Lord has risen" Luke 24:34.                                  As we get closer and closer to Easter it is important to talk about not only Jesus raising from the dead but the reason he died for us. We have been talking about how God sent Jesus to save us, how he taught us to forgive and to love others. We also have talked a lot about what a wonderful gift forgiveness is!!

  • Theme- Dr.Seuss, cat in the hat

February 22nd - 26th

We have some fun new activities starting soon!
 *Starting this week we will join the kindergarten and first grade weekly to learn about different kinds or art and artists. This week we will be learning about Jackson Pollock.
(His art is an incredible way to tie in art and color science in our class room!)
  When I was in grade school, once a year we had an art professor teach us about influential artistes threw out history. A whole week of just art!! I still remember each artist and the wonderful masterpices they created! I hope this will be a small stepping stone for your child to want to learn more and more as they grow.

  •  Phonics/Phonograms - Th, sh, ch, ee, oo & ow. Each day we try and find a new word for each phonogram. We are also working a lot with beginning word sounds. Matching upper and lower case. 
  •  Numbers- Teen number review,  1-30
  •  Shape-  hearts
  •  Writing skills- letter practice and number writing
  •  Math- hands on counting (10 beads in a number 10 cup)

  • God shows us his love every day,. We can see His love in the rain, snow and sunshine. Look for Gods love all around you this week! I know that I see the love he has for us in the small tulip starts pushing their way threw the dirt. I see Gods love in the snow that covers our mountains, it's easy to see if you just stop and look.                           
  • Just some reminders...

  • Miss Roxane sent home @home reading trackers, each class is keeping 'score' of which class reads the most at home. This is so much fun for the kids!  Please look for your paper fill it out each night, and bring it back for our class to earn our points.

  • How did God show his love to his people? We can learn so much about love by watching and listening to our children, they truly show the purest love! God showed his love to the Hebrews in many ways as they traveled. This is such a perfect story for February when all the talk is about love. There are so many kinds of love, it is so important for our children to know Gods love. Tonight ask your child what they are learning about Gods love.

  • We are having a valentines party Friday February 12th. We are making bags to put treats or valentines in. Please look at the sign up sheet out side of our room if you want to help donate any thing to the party. 
  • Baby it's cold outside❄️please be sure to bring appropriate winter clothing. If you would like your child may wear slippers in the classroom and just bring snow boots for outside. We will NOT go out if we have either a RED air day OR if it way to cold

Something exciting!!!!

!!!!!!We may get a REAL CLASS PET!!!!
We have a chance to have a real pet bird... BUT .... Before we can get it approved we need to know how each of you feel about it. Miss Mellyn will be keeping track of yay or nay's on the idea. Please let her know donee can get the equipment we need sooner rather than latter. !!!!!!!!

  • Science- flubber, Miss Mellyn made some awesome fun goo/flubber withdrew class on Tuesday. Yay Miss Mellyn for being willing to get messy and have fun!! 
  • Theme- Polar animals 
  • Bible- "Pray without ceasing" 1Thessalonians 5:27.   This Bible verses goes along with the story of Jesus teaching his disciples to pray. We have talked about how to pray, how we think and concentrate on what you are saying and who we are talking to. In the hallway you will notice our prayers hanging from a light, these are small reminders to us and to the class to pray every day!!
